Career Opportunities


Scientists with training in toxicology always have been in high demand in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry, in academia and in government research laboratories.

Rapidly growing demand for toxicologists with skills and experience in genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics brings many new opportunities. Scientists with toxicology and toxicogenomics training:

  • Are key members of interdisciplinary drug discovery teams in the pharmaceutical industry;
  • Direct safety assessment for new products in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry;
  • Develop new tools and techniques to study drug and chemical effects;
  • Perform critical research for informed assessment of the risks of environmental and occupational pollutants;
  • Perform basic research that identifies fundamental processes underlying many disases.
